California Politics
This course is about the institutions and actors that play a part in the California political process. We examine the role of citizens in California’s institutions of direct democracy, the implications of racial and political diversity, the importance of interest groups, the news media, water and the environment, education, crime, taxes and spending.
While the course covers these substantive themes, my California politics offering provides students with practice using state databases (Cal-Access; LegInfo) which prepare them for careers in California politics. See student evaluations below for student testimonials.
